Preventative Medicine

At Hub Vets we want to assist you in providing the best possible care for your pet. We recommended annual health checks for animals under 7 years of age, and health checks every 6 months for senior animals, remembering that dogs and cats age much faster than us. During these health checks the Veterinarian will examine your pet from nose to tail to ensure they are healthy on the outside, we also recommend blood testing to check your pet is also healthy on the inside.

Yearly vaccinations are a good opportunity for your pet to be examined without needing to come in for an additional health check during the year. Vaccination appointments include a health check and are recommended for all dogs, cats and rabbits; unless the Veterinarian has indicated the vaccinations need to be postponed due to health concerns.  There are packages available for puppies and kittens that include vaccinations to help you give your pet the best start in life.

As well as vaccinating your pet every year we also encourage owners to provide their pets with intestinal worm, heart worm and external parasite prevention. There are a wide variety of parasite preventative products so please feel free to ask us what we think would be most appropriate for your pet.
