Importance of puppy socialisation :

Puppies have a peak socialisation period from 3 – 16 weeks of age. What they learn and experience during this critical time will have a profound effect on their behaviour as adult dogs. Puppies are very receptive during this time frame to new experiences. Exposing your puppy to a range of environments, traffic, different textures and surfaces, novel items and sounds, people, dogs and other animals along with handling and grooming will prepare your puppy for the big wide world around them.

What you can expect from our puppy preschool course:

We offer a Puppy school course that is a combination of in person socialisation sessions and online resources to provide an environment for both puppies and humans to do their best learning.

Socialisation sessions:

are designed to be fun and engaging for both you and your puppy ! During the socialisation sessions, an instructor will guide you and your puppy through a range of exercises to help your puppy build inner confidence, appropriate socialisation skills and basic obedience commands.

What we will cover during the 4-week course :

Appropriate socialisation
Toilet training
Diet and feeding
Basic commands : Sit, walking on a leash, stay, drop and more
Managing problem behaviours
Caring for your puppy
Create positive associations with coming into the clinic

Online resources

Our Puppy School course provides not only in-person socialisation sessions, but also a weekly email that includes a presentation of topics addressed in class, various training guides, behavioural resources, and video tutorials to help you and your puppy practice from home free from distractions. In addition, this creates an opportunity for owners to have direct communication, allowing them to ask questions or seek support and guidance on a one-on-one basis.

Class Times

Our Puppy Preschool classes are held at the clinic on weeknights from 6.30 pm.

If you are interested in attending, please register your interest online or call us on 8270 5155 before your puppy turns 12 weeks old, to give us the best chance of matching a class to you and your puppy’s needs.

By registering your interest, you will receive an email with an invitation to the next available class times. Including some handy tips on puppy parenting, toilet training, teaching your puppy to respond to their name and more.

A fantastic way to introduce your puppy to other puppies. The zoom meetings were a great source of info for a first time dog mum. Sarah was FANTASTIC. I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s been a great experience and worth every cent xo

Sarah was so helpful with all her tips and knowledge. Having the zoom sessions after the practical lessons was very beneficial as you’re not distracted by the other cute puppies! It was also great to have the tips/tricks emails to refer back to. This was such a positive experience for Mabel and myself and I’m so glad we were able to do it with the Hub Vets 🙂

I can’t think of any suggestions for improvement. Sarah was so knowledgeable and attentive, and we felt comfortable asking any questions. Such a great experience – I will be recommending to friends! Thank you 🙂

Poppy really enjoyed herself at puppy school!

Mix of socialising and theory worked really well as the whole family could listen to the theory. Really nice and friendly instructor, easy to understand and follow

I learned so many tips & tricks to encourage Astro. The interaction and stories from other puppy parents were great too. Sarah was fantastic.

The smaller class allowed for a more personal approach. Sarah typically had more than one solution/approach to a challenging behaviour

The whole process was great, from Sarah’s enthusiasm and engagement to the interaction of the other group members. It was a lovely experience.

I enjoyed the socialisation aspects with the other dogs and felt the zoom meetings were a good way to engage with the information.

The small class made it easier for the puppies to interact with each other and the owners as well. From the 1st session to the final confidence around people and other puppies was very evident.

Just finished pre puppy school last night and cannot praise Sarah enough for her outstanding professionalism and positive energy and at the same time making pre puppy school fun and totally enjoyable and i would highly recommend it to anyone, well done and keep up the good work

We learnt so much from the classes, especially the PowerPoints too ! Being a new owner learning how to brush there puppies teeth, allergies leaving them at home and other behaviours was really helpful and insightful
